I recently attended a media dinner at
DECK. Bar & Grille, one of Waikiki's new restaurants with gorgeous, unobstructed views of Diamond Head.
Located in the recently-refreshed Queen Kapiolani Hotel, DECK. offers all-day dining, including twice-daily happy hour!
We began the dinner with various starters, salads, and a flatbread:
Iron Skillet Pot SPAM & Kimchi Fried Rice |
Kalua Pork Flatbread |
Spicy Ahi Poke |
Kona Kampachi Sashimi |
Otsuji Farm Green |
Jumbo Chicken Wings |
Baby Kale Chicken Caesar |
Baked Kona Lobster Mac & Cheese |
A lot of people really liked the Jumbo Chicken Wings, and it was my personal fave. Extra crispy chicken wings were tossed in a spiced black vinegar glaze that gave it a really nice flavor.
I also enjoyed the Baby Kale Chicken Caesar, which was also another popular dish of the evening.
The Kona Kampachi Sashimi and Spicy Ahi Poke were two more dishes that my tablemates raved about, and although some on our table enjoyed the Kalua Pork Flatbread, I thought the bread was much too thick and chewy for my personal preference.
Hawaiian Ocean Catch of the Day |
Grilled Filet Mignon |
Kobe Beef Cheeseburger |
Of the mains, the Kobe Beef Cheeseburger was delish, and I loved the umami potatoes that were served with the Filet Mignon.
Joe's Lilikoi Ice Cream Cheesecake |
Molten Chocolate Cake |
Paley's Popcorn Ice Cream |
The Paley's Popcorn Ice Cream was yummy. I liked the contrast of the creamy ice cream with the crunchy caramel corn.
The Molten Chocolate Cake was decadent, and I thought Joe's Lilikoi Ice Cream Cheesecake was light and fruity, but as many had noted - we couldn't really taste any cheesecake.
I enjoyed dinner, and I can't wait to try out breakfast!
