More often than not, I find out about new restaurants from Instagram or Yelp, but I discovered this place from my father! According to him, he found out one of the chefs/owners from a well known Chinese restaurant in town that he likes left that restaurant and opened this one, and he wanted the family to try it out .
The hubby and I were skeptical as to whether it would be a good place for a family dinner (we have five year old twins) given it's name and location, but we gave it a try anyway. We parked in the private parking lot in the back of the restaurant and made sure to take all of our valuables with us into the restaurant. We left the ordering to my dad, but asked him to order some fried rice for our twins.
Here's what we ended up with:
House special fried rice |
Plum sauce pork chop |
Green beans |
chicken in chili sauce |
seafood noodles |
The fried rice was my favorite dish of the night. It had a slight kick to it, but was delicious, thanks in part to the lap cheong. One of my sons loved it even though it was spicy (he took a sip in between each spoonful of rice!). The pork chops were good too .. the plum sauce is what makes this dish, because by itself the pork chops are bland. Everything else was just OK in my book. We probably would not come here again since there wasn't much for my boys to eat .... they're more accustomed to Americanized or localized Chinese dishes like orange chicken. :) But if you're looking for more authentic Northern style Chinese food, you may want to put this restaurant on your list of places to try.
