Every day for at least the last
week (because let’s be honest, the first few days after he was born was a
complete blur) I’ve tried to write this blog post. Some days I even got so far
as opening my computer. Other days it was just penning a few lines in my mind.
Either way, the seemingly
unending repetition of dirty diapers and feedings and then trying to get
everything else done (like laundry and feeding the dog) have interfered.
I read somewhere that everything
can wait. The dirty dishes. The piles of laundry. Making the bed. And instead,
spend an extra few minutes just holding your baby a little longer before
putting him down and rushing off to the next task (because fortunately for us
our baby goes back to sleep after being fed and changed). Our pediatrician
reminded us basically the same thing at his first appointment, that he will
never be as small as he is right now.
So while I can still carry him in
one hand and enjoy inhaling his delicious baby scent and cuddling his soft baby
hair and skin, I think I’ll do just that.
Maybe one day we will have a blog post on his birth story. And maybe, we won’t. :)
