Visit Hamilton: Iguana Street Bar & Eatery

On the way back to Auckland after a long morning of visiting three different geothermal parks further South, we stopped in Hamilton for dinner.

We searched for a family-friendly eatery that could seat us immediately, and found Iguana Street Bar & Eatery.

It's billed as one of Hamilton's original restaurants, but unfortunately we had quite a disappointing experience.

Pulled Pork Bao Bun

Curly Fries
Sirloin Steak
Kids Hawaiian Pizza

Kids Pasta Carbonara

Kids Crumbed Chicken Tenders

Chocolate, Sorbet, Strawberry Sundaes

Strawberry Panna Cotta
We were seated just before 8:00pm.

The first dish - the Bao, arrived at 9:00pm.

The kids meals didn't come out til 9:12pm.

By the time we were done with dessert, it was 10:00pm.

The Bao was tasty and so were the Curly Fries.  The kids meals were generous portions.

The Steak was a "From the Grill" menu option, which comes with a choice of starch and sauce.

Overall the food was good, but the service left much to be desired.

Service was extremely slow, with no apologies whatsoever with the wait for our food.  Our server did not have a lot of answers to our questions, so I had to look them up myself.  For example, I asked her if the kids meals come with dessert since there were no prices whatsoever listed on the menu.  She said she would check, but she never did, so I looked for the answer on the website (yes, dessert is included).

We were given 4 kids meals (we have 3 kids!).

We were never offered or given a dessert menu, even after our dishes were cleared, so rather than wait even longer, I just looked online.

When we paid the bill, the second kids pasta was indeed on the bill, but the steak was left off, so we had to alert them to both errors.

And don't let me get started on the restrooms!

Our server was never unpleasant, it's just too bad the entire experience was a disappointment.
