New to Waikiki: Waikiki Tea House

On a visit to NYC several years ago my friends told me to definitely stop by Lady M Cake Boutique, internationally known for their most popular dessert - the Mille Crepes cake.  The crepe cake is made from twenty paper-thin handmade crepes and layered with a crème filling.  I never made it that trip or any other so when I heard the cakes were finally available in Hawaii at the Waikiki Tea House, I knew it was time to go.

After doing a little more research, via the internet, I found out that Lady M was founded by Hawaii native Ken Romaniszyn, whose family owns Wasabi Bistro.  The Lady M company started around 2001 and they opened their first store in New York in 2004.  Today, they have 31 stores around the globe, including seven in China.

Their first location in Hawaii is located near Wasabi Bistro on Beachwalk next to Henry's Place. It's a small, but elegant space with seating both inside and outside. Their cakes are showcased and available by the slice or by whole cakes - 6 inches and 9 inches.

If you plan to dine in, the staff will take your order and bring to your table. We ordered 2 of their strawberry lemonades and an iced coffee to accompany slices of the lilikoi mille crepes (recently featured in O magazine!) and chocolate arc-en-ciel.  Each slice was $8.50.
On our next trip, I want to try their cheesecake and the matcha mille crepes!  I'm actually not a big fan of the crepe cake, but the lilikoi cake was delicious. It was so light and creamy!  My kids really enjoyed the chocolate cake which wasn't overly sweet.

Next time you are in Waikiki and need a sweet treat plus a break from the busy, stop in at the Waikiki Tea House and have a slice for me!  They are open daily from 11am to 9pm.
