Visit Las Vegas: The Magic Noodle

I've always been fascinated by hand pulled noodles, but have never seen it in done in person.  Something about the way they stretch and spin the dough is just so mesmerizing to me.  On a recent trip to Las Vegas, I was super excited to take my family to The Magic Noodle - a very popular noodle restaurant known for their handmade noodles that you can choose to be either hand pulled or knife cut.  Luckily for my inner germaphobe, they hand pull the noodles behind an enclosed kitchen with glass walls.

The causal eatery was a hit with my family.  We started with the onion pancakes and sweet and sour black fungus salad.  I loved the onion pancakes and while I balked at the fungus, I tried it and it was really good!  It reminded my of seaweed and my parents assured me it is really good for you.

For the noodles, we ordered the beef brisket noodle, dan dan noodle, lan zhou noodle, and the chong qing style spicy noodle.  We enjoyed all the noodle dishes except for the dan dan noodle, which my sister was a little disappointed by the lack of flavor.  In their defense, I think she just likes my dad's version better.

The service was really great!  My parents liked the friendly girl that could speak Chinese and laugh at my dad's bad jokes.  We also thought the menu prices were very reasonable with the bowls of noodles ranging from $7.95 to $9.95.  A great find for authentic Chinese noodles.
