It was our first morning in Los Angeles, and we had no plans for breakfast (our hotel had nothing but a Starbucks in the lobby and we weren't about to buy breakfast for the four of us there).
Roscoe's was a few miles from our hotel, and on the way to where we need to go, so we decided to stop in for their legendary fried chicken and waffles.
The #3 Herb's Special - half of a chicken, fried Southern-style, and two large waffles with two scoops of butter.
There is something magical about the combination of fried chicken (savory) and waffles (sweet). You wouldn't think of it at first glance, but it's a perfect balance of sweet to salty.
And if you think chicken and waffles is just a breakfast thing, think again ... some of their locations are open until 2 am (their original Hollywood location is open until 4 am on Friday and Saturday nights!).
