The twins and I were walking along Hekili Street in Kailua one morning when we noticed people walking in and out of the space at the end where Buona Sera used to be. We discovered Mother Bake Shop, a small cafe specializing in fresh baked pastries and coffee.
On this visit, there were four items displayed at the counter - the coconut lime shortbread and chocolate cookies caught my eye, so I bought one of each.

The flavors of the coconut lime shortbread were very subtle, and the texture was not as dense or buttery as other shortbread cookies that I've tried. The chocolate cookie was delicious - very rich and chewy. The sea salt on the top is a nice addition!
They make cakes too. I didn't catch the name of this cake (it happens when you've got two kids pulling your arms!) but I recall a sign that said it's made with Manoa Chocolate!
They also have one sandwich and two types of toast on the menu.
I will definitely be back - hopefully there will be more pastries to try!
