The Hawai‘i Agricultural Foundation (HAF) and Elite Parking kick off a pilot home delivery service in conjunction with the Food-A-Go-Go platform to further support local restaurants. While most delivery apps and website platforms charge restaurants between 13.5 – 30% and the consumer a range of booking fees, services fees that can add to up to 40%, Elite Delivery will charge a flat $10 per delivery to the consumer.
The pilot program launches with Elite Delivery providing home delivery service for 12 locally owned Food-A-Go-Go restaurants in two O‘ahu neighborhoods: Hawai‘i Kai and Kaimuki. The pilot program will deliver to customers in three area codes (96816, 96821 and 96825) between the hours of 5-9 p.m. To use this service, customers will first order their food directly with the restaurant, inform the restaurant that Elite Delivery will pick up the order on the customer’s behalf, and then book their delivery with Elite Delivery. Restaurants selected for the pilot are identified on the Food-A-Go-Go website with an Elite Delivery logo next to the restaurant. Once the order is placed with the restaurant, the customer will then go the Elite Delivery site and book the $10 delivery service. While the process is not seamless and requires two transactions, it is completely transparent with the only fee being a $10 flat feel to the consumer. Elite Parking will also donate a $1 back to the Hawai‘i Agricultural Foundation for every Elite Delivery made to support its programs.
“Right now, it’s critical that we find creative solutions for businesses to support each other,” said Ryan Chun, President of Elite Parking Services. “By partnering with Food-A-Go-Go, we are offering an affordable home food delivery service to customers while creating work for our employees, and providing a much needed service for local restaurants for free.”
“With restaurant margins so low to begin with, coupled with in-room dining closed because of COVID-19, restaurants cannot afford to pay any fees if they have any chance of survival,” said Denise Yamaguchi, HAF Executive Director. “With Elite Parking, we hope Elite Delivery is a game changer and disrupter to current delivery service industry.”
Elite Delivery and HAF are organizing a slow roll out of Elite Delivery to be sure execution will be successful. In time, they intend to expand services to other Food-A-Go-Go restaurants and customers living in other neighborhoods. Currently, Elite Delivery also delivers to for Hawai‘i Meals on Wheel’s Show Aloha Challenge and is following all CDC and local health authorities’ recommended COVID-19 guidelines for customer and driver safety, including no contact delivery. Elite Delivery is a new pilot partnership between HAF’s Food-A-Go-Go initiative and Elite Parking Services. Launched in March 2020 when many restaurants were faced with the mandate to close in-room dining, Food-A-Go-Go was created to help market all restaurants that remain open to offer takeout, delivery and curbside pickup. The goal of Food-A-Go-Go is to help restaurants have the best chance of survival during this COVID-19, creating innovative ways of marketing and operating, such as this new Elite Delivery service.
