Same Day Costco Delivery

I've been hearing about Costco's Instacart Same Day Delivery service for a while now, but heard mixed reviews, particularly regarding the delivery schedule, and having to wait days for delivery.

But, I decided to give it a try just to see how it worked.

I put in my order for 20+ items on a Friday afternoon, for things like Cheerios, Kirkland shredded cheddar cheese, bananas, avocados, toilet paper, and frozen pizza.

After going through the checkout process, selecting Fast & Flexible (which gave a date range between 4/17 and 4/20), and approving to leave the delivery at the front door (since someone would be home), I expected to get my delivery on Sunday at the earliest.

To my surprise, less than 2 hours later, the delivery person was at the door dropping off the groceries.  I wasn't even paying attention to any of the texts, which started about 1.5 hours after I submitted my order.  I was given a delivery time estimate, the name of the person shopping, any items that were out of stock (the toilet paper), any items that were substituted (the frozen pizza), and when the delivery would be on its way.

Upon inspection of the delivery, everything was there, packed nicely, and I was satisfied with the substitution our shopper made with the pizza (you can specify substitutions upon ordering, if applicable and desired).

Prices are higher than in the warehouse for this service (e.g. $1.50 more each for Cheerios and mayo, $.50 more for bananas), but to me, it was worth it to not have to wait in the long lines, search the warehouse for products that may not even be there, and just not be in the midst of all the craziness.

After delivery, you can rate your delivery person and adjust the tip if necessary.

I would definitely use it again the next time I'm running really low on my favorite Costco buys, and hopefully I will once again get great service.
