The Hawai‘i Agricultural Foundation (HAF) today launched the Go-Go! Get One,Give One campaign, a statewide initiative created to help Hawai‘i’s farmers, ranchers and fishermen facing hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic. From now hrough May 31, diners who use their Hawaiian Airlines Bank of Hawaii World Elite Mastercard when ordering from Food-A-Go-Go restaurants will support local food producers and select community partners working to improve critical access to food. For every dollar spent on takeout or delivery orders, Hawaiian Airlines Bank of Hawaii World Elite Mastercard and Barclays will donate one dollar, up to $100,000, directly to HAF.
The final donation amount raised by Hawaiian Airlines Bank of Hawaii World Elite Mastercard cardmembers will be announced on June 1, 2020, on FoodAGoGo.org.
The launch of Go-Go! Get One, Give Onecoincides with Food-A-Go-Go Farms, a new addition to FoodAGoGo.org where consumers can search through a database of farmersmarkets and local growers selling fresh produce. Food-A-Go-Go Farms also includes value-added producers and purveyors in two categories: Aloha Inside for any food product made locally in Hawai‘i and Local Inside for products made with locally grown, caught or raised ingredients. Consumers will be able to browse through Food-A-Go-Go Farms beginning at 12pm today.
“We’re proud to partner with Hawaiian Airlines Bank of Hawaii World Elite Mastercard to support local farmers who are growing our food and provide for our communities,” says Denise Yamaguchi, HAF executive director. “As we continue to brave through the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s become apparent that we need to work together to preserve our local food systems.”
HAF launched the Food-A-Go-Go program in March 2020 as a large-scale initiative to build awareness for local restaurants, a vital marketplace for farmers, ranchers and fishermen, affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This is an extraordinarily challenging time for our state’s food industry, and it’s more important than ever that we come together to offer help where it’s needed the most,” said Avi Mannis, senior vice president of marketing at Hawaiian Airlines. “We’ve been a proud supporter of the Hawai‘i Agricultural Foundation’s Food-A-Go-Go since the launch of the program, and we’re looking forward to joining them in this exciting next stage of our partnership.”
In addition to launching the Go-Go! Get One, Give One campaign, HAF is extending its #EveryOrderCounts Instagram Sweepstakes giveaway through the end of May. One hundred winners will be chosen to receive a CSA produce box curated with produce from local farmers, including 40 winners on O‘ahu, 20 on Kaua‘i, 20 on Maui, and 20 on Island of Hawai‘i.
