Visit Hilo: Moon & Turtle

I love Moon & Turtle.  Since most of my recent trips to Hilo have been work-related with zero time to even order take-out, I jumped at the chance to order take-out from Moon & Turtle during my most recent visit, since I had some free time.  I ordered the entire take-out menu, plus cocktails!

She So Sour + Lady Lychee Cocktails

Ceviche

Wild Boar Fried Rice

Oxtail Fries

Spicy Miso Clams

Mushroom Risotto

Crispy Wonton

Poached Tuna Salad

Smokey Sashimi
The Fried Rice and Risotto are some of my usual faves (I ate nearly all the Mushroom Risotto myself!).  The Crispy Wonton was delish, sprinkled with Parmesan, filled with Soni's ricotta and charred Dam Fine Farms kale, and served atop a Hamakua mushroom ragu.

The Oxtail Fries were what I really sought after on the takeout menu.  Red wine braised Big Island grass-fed oxtail gravy + fries - what an amazing combo!  I would've eaten all of that myself too, but I had to share with my fellow gravy+fries-loving friend.

The Smokey Sashimi is one of Moon & Turtle's signature dishes, so that is always a must.

My friend could not stop eating the Spicy Miso Clams, and the Poached Tuna Salad is one of his faves.

Follow Moon & Turtle on Instagram to find out what they are offering for take-out!
