Week 1 of Distance Learning ended (and it was thankfully short due to a state holiday). We got off to a rough start on the first day, but towards the end of the week it started to get better.
My youngest child has been able to "meet" his classmates and teacher online. My middle-schooler finished a week's worth of assignments for each of his classes in a single day. My oldest has been managing okay.
I know the teachers and school staff have been trying their best to adapt and accommodate the students and all of the varying needs. This is new territory for us all. There is no substitute, in my opinion, for in-person learning, amongst peers, with hands-on instruction, and in the presence of a teacher.
But I feel what's happening is in the best interest of the safety of all students and teachers, as well as their families.
We didn't want this, but we have to accept it and roll with it until the kids can safely go back to school. We're all doing our best.
Hang in there fellow parents, and thank you to all the teachers and school staff for continuing to adapt in this ever-changing environment.
