It was great news to hear Chef Keaka Lee would be opening Kapa Hale in the Kahala area, but the music to my ears was the news that they would be serving brunch on the weekends. What better way to enjoy the weekend than with friends and a stack of lemon and blueberry ricotta pancakes?

They currently don't have their liquor license so we had to forgo on mimosas, but their French press coffee made a better substitute. There were so many great options for brunch, like the quiche luau or the pipikaula short ribs, but I was curious about the Shaka-Shuka - spicy stewed peppers, tomatoes & persimmon, poached egg served with house focaccia. It was absolutely delicious and my favorite for sure.
Vegetables are also a big thing at Kapa Hale and they have their own section of the menu dedicated to them. We tried the brussels- fried with brown butter and pickled cranberries. They were a definite highlight of our brunch. I am looking forward to returning to try out more brunch items!

What a beautiful space! There is also an outdoor lanai area with a view of Diamond Head. |
