Hana no Sato

Hana no Sato, which was once located in a small alleyway in Waikiki, has moved to a more accessible location on South King Street, a few steps way from Kokua Market (across from the Post Office).

Their menu is small, just like the restaurant, but deciding on what to order is still a challenge because it all sounds so good and the prices are very reasonable.

The three of us shared an order of kushikatsu to start off our lunch - it came with 5 sticks of deep fried seafood and potato croquette.  The ingredient of each stick is stamped in Japanese on each stick.

The grilled mackerel bento came with a large portion of mackerel, choice of miso soup or salad (miso soup pictured), mac salad, gobo, ajitama, rice, and two gyoza. Needless to say, my friend was full from all of this!

The tempura udon came with two pieces of shrimp tempura and a nice serving of udon noodles. I personally prefer thicker noodles, but otherwise I was happy with my udon!  I do need to remember to ask for the tempura served on the side next time around.

The miso ramen did not have a shortage of noodles, broth, or toppings!

Casual atmosphere, friendly owners, and comforting Japanese food makes Hana no Sato a great place for dine-in or take-out.
