It was great news to hear La Cucina reopened their doors for dine-in in January! Their in house, made-from-scratch pastas (except their spaghetti) makes them easily one of Honolulu’s favorite Italian restaurants. They are definitely a favorite of ours at Hawaii Mom Blog!
I haven't dined there in awhile so I pretty much wanted everything on the extensive menu. We started with the Midollo Osseo: roasted seasoned bone marrow topped with pesto and served with toast points. It was so delicious and we easily finished it off. Next, we had some of the best brussels sprouts ever! What makes them especially delicious is they are fried in brown butter with homemade Italian sausage and topped with dried cranberries, caramelized sliced almonds and parmesan cheese.
My friend is a regular so she knew we had to order the osso bucco 48 hours ahead to get a taste of one of their best dishes. Finally, we each had our own pasta entree and shared the pappardelle guancia di Manzo (braised beef cheeks). Yes, we had lots to take home and my husband really enjoyed the leftovers.
Keeping with safety standards, diners will need a reservation, fill out a contact tracing form within 24 hours of their arrival, and have their temperatures checked at the door. Thanks to Chef Don and Dara for a wonderful dining experience. So glad they are back open for dine-in!
