Liliha Bakery - Nimitz

Liliha Bakery is one of our favorite restaurants for breakfast (although we RARELY eat breakfast at restaurants!).  We recently hit up Liliha Bakery's Nimitz location on a Sunday morning for breakfast.  Man was it crowded! But, it's a big restaurant with lots of seating, so don't be deterred by the crowds outside when you pull into the parking lot.

While we waited for a table, we went to the bakery (located inside to the immediate right) to buy some pastries.  These cherry butter tea cookies are my absolute favorite cookies from Liliha Bakery. They are soft and chewy, and I think the dollop of cherry jelly in the center of each cookie is the same jelly they serve with their famous grilled butter rolls.

New to the bakery (not sure how new it actually is, but it's new to me!) is the Cinnamon Butter Mochi. I have yet to try this, and I was very tempted to buy it, but I had a lot of sweets at home and decided to save this for another day. That day is coming soon because I can't stop thinking about it.

About ten minutes after we put our names in, we received a text message to inform us that our table was ready! We scored a seat on the counter, which is what I wanted, because I love watching the bakers work their magic in their open kitchen.

This is part of the reason why everything at Liliha Bakery taste so good - butter! Lots of it!

Soon after we put in our order, our waitress delivered the butter rolls. You can't dine at Liliha Bakery without ordering these butter rolls!  It comes with some of the breakfast entrees, but if it doesn't come with yours, you can (and should!) order it as a side order.

I decided to try the Waffard, after recently seeing it on Liliha Bakery's Instagram feed.  It's a waffle with custard, blueberries, strawberries, whipped cream, and nuts (on the side).  If you're in the mood to indulge in something super sweet, this is for you!

The waffle was really crispy, and the custard was not too sweet, which is how I like it.  I was not able to finish it, which meant I got to enjoy the leftovers at home for breakfast the next day!

The hubby ordered the Corned Beef Hash & Two Eggs, a local favorite!

We were very impressed with both the service, quality, and taste of the food.  Coffee was constantly topped off, and we did not have to wait very long for our food (considering how busy it was!).

Liliha Bakery currently has 3 locations to serve you - the original location on Kuakini Street, Nimitz, and Ala Moana.  They will soon be opening two more locations - one at International Marketplace, and one at Pearl Highlands Center!
