Bellows AFS Cabins

The Bellows Air Force Station cabins are available to rent by eligible patrons and those patrons can sponsor guests.  The cabins rent quickly, but last year I was able to get a reservation for two cabins the last weekend of August for myself and my friend’s family.

This was my first time staying at the cabins and I won’t lie, I am not a camper and I was very worried that it would be dirty and bug infested.  I even thought about bringing my own sheets.  But the cabin was great and I would definitely stay again.

We were in a cabin fronting the ocean and I liked that we had direct beach access.  Some of the cabins you can fish from, but I prefer the ones in front of the beach.  Our cabin didn’t have AC, so next time I would bring a fan.  There are two bedrooms – one with a queen sized bed and the other with two twin beds.  The bathroom is pretty small, but has soap.  You’ll need to bring your own shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

Each cabin is equipped with a full size refrigerator with ice trays, a stove, sink, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker, kitchen tools, and cutlery and dishes for six.  Outside the cabin is a picnic table, shower, hose, a grill and even a laundry line.  Lots of people brought pop up tents for shade.

Don’t forget your body boards or fishing poles!  But even if you do, you can easily rent a number of equipment from Turtle Cove. During our stay, my friend’s son was stung by Portuguese man of war twice, so it may be helpful to bring vinegar for the sting.

Currently, light housekeeping is available upon request. One thing I didn’t note was that you are supposed to take out your trash and clean your dishes before you check out. I felt terrible that I wasn’t aware of this. It would have been helpful to have been told or reminded at check in.

Overall, we had so much fun!  It was just the relaxing weekend I needed. Be sure to wake up early and enjoy the sunrise!
