We had the pleasure of dining at world-renowned Le Bernardin thanks to our gracious hosts in New Jersey.
They are no strangers to Le Bernardin, so we followed their lead, and everyone ordered 5 courses each (the prix fixe menu is 4 courses), as we mixed and matched, allowing people to share food if they chose to (versus everyone ordering the Chef's Tasting and getting the exact same course for each dish).
Dinner started off with a selection of various breads.
We then had an amuse consisting of a Salmon Tartlet, Lobster Custard, and Celery Root and Black Truffle Soup.
Tuna-Urchin |
Caviar |
Fluke |
Sea Trout |
Langoustine |
Sea Urchin Pasta |
Octopus |
Every dish was elegantly plated, with a few tableside pours of sauces. Most of our table claimed the Skate was their favorite (it's one of Le Bernardin's signature dishes), but my favorite was the Sea Urchin Pasta.
It was absolutely incredible, with Homemade Tagliolini, and the most umami-laden clam and urchin sauce I've ever tried. So delicious!
"Doughnut" |
Dessert was a "Doughnut," which was actually sticky toffee cake.
Vacherin |
Fig |
We had a double birthday celebration, and the guests of honor shared this sweet confection.
