Lunch at Kapa Hale

Kapa Hale is the perfect venue for a casual, dine-in weekday lunch with friends. There is lots of parking, they accept reservations, the dining room is spacious and open air (on the bar side), and the menu (locally sourced as much as possible) has a lot of variety, from vegetable dishes to hamburgers.  For lunch service, you place your order with the cashier at the bar, and your food is delivered to your table. We didn't have to wait long for our meals to arrive, and everything was outstanding. The highlights for me were the lemon poppy seed loaf (which the four of us shared) and the tagliatelle bolognese (the pasta is made in-house!).  I tried a slice of my friend's ahi belly and was amazed at how moist and tender the ahi was.

What I also love about Kapa Hale is that the chef and owner, Keaka Lee, was borned and raised in Hawaii, and graduated from Kapiolani Community College's Culinary Institute of the Pacific.  After working at several prestigious restaurants in San Francisco, NYC and here on Oahu (3660, Alan Wong's, Pig and the Lady), he now owns his own restaurant in Kahala!
