Since we are currently in the off-season for soccer, we had time to stop by the KCC Farmers' Market on Saturday morning after hiking the Diamond Head State Monument.
As soon as we entered the market, we came across The Local General Store's booth, and I had to stop to see the pasty offerings. I had been wanting to try their pastries for a long time, but I could never make it down to their pop ups on Sundays, or to any of the Farmers Markets that they sell their pastries at.
Cinnamon Rolls are my weakness, so I could not resist trying the Croissant Cinnamon Roll with Late Vanilla Cream Cheese Frosting. This was absolutely amazing! This roll was moist, buttery, and the cream cheese frosting was heavenly.
I also tried their Olive Oil Cake with Vanilla Bean Custard. I've never tried a cake made with olive oil before and so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm so glad I gave this slice of cake a chance, because it was delish!
Our second stop was to the Pig and the Lady's booth. They did not have the surf and turf that has been my go-to, so I tried something new - the stuffed tofu. Actually, I gave this to my mom, so I can't tell you first hand how it was, but she said she enjoyed it and that it was "different". It sure looked very flavorful.
For myself I ordered their signature Pho French Dip banh mi, which was outstanding, as always!
You can find both The Local General Store and The Pig and the Lady at the Honolulu Farmers' Market on Wednesdays (4-7pm) and KCC Farmers' Market on Saturdays (7:30-11am).
