On our first full day in Seoul, we woke up early searching for a breakfast spot. I checked Google Maps and saw a nearby eatery had excellent reviews - Mugyo-dong Bugeo-guk.
It had just opened and it was already bustling with locals. People were leaving having already eaten, or they were picking up takeout orders, while the restaurant had many patrons seated and eating.
We promptly were directed to a table, and upon seating we were immediately served with banchan, rice, and fish soup.
Turns out - there is no menu, and the busy eatery is known for their dried pollack soup, or bugeo-guk, and that's pretty much all people eat there - soup and banchan!
I saw some people order a fried egg, so we ordered a fried egg too!
There were employees who spoke english, and they let us know we could get as much rice as we wanted, and with the huge containers of banchan on the table, I definitely got my fill of rice, banchan, and soup. It was perfect for the rainy morning we had in Seoul.
I imagine people may indulge after a long night of drinking, or they may simply want to enjoy good, comforting food.
It was a great find!
Go where the locals go!
