Visit Hawai`i Island: Hawai`i Tropical Bioreserve & Garden

Despite working nearby, I had never been to the Hawai`i Tropical Bioreserve & Garden until recently.  With a tagline of "A beautiful garden in a valley on the ocean," this tourist attraction welcomes visitors to a tropical oasis full of native and imported plants, some of which are now extinct in the wild.

You access a 1.25 mile trail on a ramp with a somewhat steep decline (which of course, turns into an incline on your way back out), and you are immediately immersed in greenery.

The Bioreserve & Garden boasts over 2000 species on 20 acres, and you also get to see a pond, lake, and waterfall.

There are sections of colorful orchids, ornate flowers, and intricate ferns.

As usual, I was drawn to the colorful foliage and in awe of all the different types of flowers I came across.

You get a beautiful view of Onomea Bay.

You are welcome to bring food and drink into the gardens, and they have seating to enjoy a meal or snack while on the grounds.  Insect repellent is highly recommended as well.

The Hawai`i Tropical Bioreserve & Garden showcases an amazing variety of flora - towering trees and exotic flowers, native fruit and endemic ferns.  It's a wonderful way to spend a few hours, strolling through nature!
