Visit Hawai`i Island: The Big Island Bakehouse

I'm always game to visit a bakery if it's nearby, as was the case when I ended up visiting The Big Island Bakehouse.

It's the tiniest bakery, with no more than a dozen items, and even less if you show up later in the day, so I highly suggest you getting there early.

I got there in the afternoon, and a few of the items were already sold out.

I ended up buying the following:

Cheese Croissant

Lemon Meringue Cruffin

Chocolate Chip Cookie

Cinnamon Bun

I don't really care for Cinnamon Buns, but I loved the Cinnamon Bun!  It was so light and fluffy, and absolutely delicious!  It was as sweet as it looked, and just as yummy the next day (it was enormous - I definitely could not finish it in one sitting).

The Lemon Meringue Cruffin was my next fave.  The lemon filling was delightful, and the light meringue complemented the dense, yet moist cruffin.

The Cheese Croissant was good, but I think I would have liked a plain or chocolate croissant better.

I am actually not much of a pastry person, and I originally was planning on only getting the Chocolate Chip Cookie, but I'm so glad I got other items, because the cookie was my least favorite.  It was gigantic, but imy opinion, it fell "flat" in both flavor and texture.

I would definitely get the Cinnamon Bun and Cruffin again!
