After exploring the tide pools at Keāhole Point, which is near the Kona International Airport, the in-laws asked me where we could all go for lunch. I did a search on Yelp and chose
Pine Tree Cafe. When we got there (which was around the lunch hour), the place was packed. All indoor seating was taken, so we casually hovered until we found two tables for the 8 of us.
They have a good selection of local favorites - burgers, plate lunches, bentos, bowls, etc. Here's what we tried:
Mini Beach Bento |
Side of French Fries (burgers and sammies do not come with fries)
Hamburger (ordered plain) |
Fish Burger (fried mahi mahi) |
Special of the day - Mixed Plate of Kal bi, Korean Chicken, Pulehu Shortribs
Spicy Garlic Chicken |
Chef's Salad |
Roast Turkey |
Everyone really enjoyed their food. My niece who ordered the spicy garlic chicken said it was just as good as The Alley on Oahu. The grandparents, who shared the mixed plate were very satisfied! The fish burger was really good - moist and crispy.
Now I know where to dine when I'm near the Kona airport!
