Visit London: The London Eye

We had no plans on going on The London Eye, but since there was a promo for 40% off online tickets, we thought we may as well take advantage.

Entry is timed, and once your time is displayed on the kiosk near the entrance, you can get your ticket scanned. Some people with times earlier than what was displayed were told to return at their ticket time, whereas others were let in - it just depended on the employee monitoring the line.

We were lucky to be let into the line about 10 minutes prior to our 1230 ticket time.

We took an obligatory pic, got our bags checked, and after employees scanned the pod and bench with inspection mirrors, we were allowed to board. Some people chose to sit on the bench, which was in the middle of the pod, but most people just stood around the edge of the pod to take photos.

Although I read that you should buy the tickets day of after checking on the weather, the promo required us to buy the tickets at least 24 hours prior, so the day we bought tickets for ended up being cloudy and rainy.

The weather was not optimal for viewing far distances, but we still had nice views of the River Thames, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, and even Buckingham Palace!

A recorded narration offers fun facts and will help guests identify popular landmarks.

The line for The London Eye looked long, but went quickly.  The entire ride took about 30 minutes.

The London Eye was a great way to view the city!
