Kai Coffee Hawaii introduces a new Holiday Spice Latte in time for Christmas, starting on Wednesday, November 29. In its efforts to be sustainable by utilizing the whole coffee fruit, owner/founder Sam Suiter and Vice President of Operations Rowlinson Aczon make a house-made cascara syrup crafted with dried coffee cherries rendered down in hot water, strained, infused with baking spices, such as allspice and cardamom, and sweetened with some sugar. The syrup is added to a latte brewed with Kai Espresso Blend and some milk for an irresistible, delicately spiced concoction.

The lattes are served hot or cold. The hot Holiday Spice Latte comes in three sizes—a small, 8-ounce serving for $6.50, a medium 12-ounce for $6.75, and a large 16-ounce for $7.25. Iced lattes come in small 12-ounce cups for $6.50, with large 16-ounce cups going for $7.25.

“We had a large amount of coffee cherries and wanted to utilize them to be more sustainable,” says Sam Suiter, Founder and CEO of Kai Coffee Hawaii. “Since they are rich in nutrients, vitamins, and anti-oxidants, we did not want to simply discard them, so we created an aromatic syrup to complement our fragrant coffees while adding some holiday spirit to our menu.”

Kai Coffee Hawaii owns and operates five locations on Oahu—a cafĂ© at Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa, two cafes at ‘Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach, a new kiosk at Waikiki Shopping Plaza, and a roasting facility on Kapahulu Avenue.
