Brunch at Nami Kaze

It has been a while since I've dined at Nami Kaze, and it has also been a while since Gem and I have had a chance to have a meal together on Oahu! We were originally planning to meet on a Tuesday, but we changed the date to a Wednesday so that we could dine at Nami Kaze - that's how much we both wanted to come here (Nami Kaze is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays)!

I love how ordering is done online - just scan the QR code on the menu, make your selections, and hit the 'send' button to send your order to the kitchen. The food comes out quite fast considering it's a busy establishment - a plus for those who are pressed for time.

The best way to dine here is family style, because that allows you to try multiple dishes on the menu.

Here's what Gem and I shared from their Brunch menu:

Grilled Romain Caesar - Arare, Bonito, Yuzu Kosho Vinaigrette, Parmesan Aioli.

Spicy Roasted Broccolini & Cauliflower - spicy black bean garlic glaze, Chili Crispies

Honey Walnut Shrimp Waffle - apple, celery, candied walnut, maple

Ginger Chicken (side order)

The chef/owner treated us to this ahi tartare - one of the restaurant's specialties.

As you can imagine, everything was delightful and delicious. I was hesitant to try the Spicy Roasted Broccolini & Cauliflower because, well, I do not like cauliflower at all, and I do not like spicy foods! But, I gave it a try, and I ended up liking it a lot! It did not taste like cauliflower at all (which is why I liked it so much) and I'm wondering I could ask for a non-spicy version the next time I come here.

The Honey Walnut Shrimp Waffle was my choice, and I'm so glad I decided to order it (I was going back and forth between the waffle and the Beer Batter Auction Fish).  I LOVE waffles, which is why I ended up ordering the waffle - it was very buttery, just the way I like it! You can order just the waffle without the honey walnut shrimp, but unless you're allergic to shellfish, don't skip the honey walnut shrimp!

The Ginger Chicken was amazing as always - a must if you appreciate good fried chicken.  The crust is the perfect in thickness and crispiness.

Nami Kaze is open for Brunch and Dinner service, Wednesday through Sunday. Reservations are recommended.
