It was kismet that when Hawaii Mom Blogger Nat wanted to celebrate her 50th birthday at Threadfin Bistro, we were invited for a media tasting. Located in Kilohana Square in Kapahulu, Threadfin Bistro is an intimate restaurant that serves wine-friendly global-focused dishes from Chef Jason Kiyota, who formerly operated a restaurant in Kailua called The Food Company Café.
At Threadfin Bistro, guests will have the option of an a la carte menu and an affordable three-course prix fixe for under $80 per person. The August menu is priced at $68 per person. Our party of four shared the Lobster Noodles which turned out to be my favorite dish. For my options from the prix fixe menu, I chose the Hamachi and upgraded to the Mediterranean Spiced Washgyu Steak. The hamachi with the pickled watermelon was so refreshing and generous in portion. The steak was nice as well and I enjoyed the onion jam. We finished with the chocolate torte which was perfection. We had such an amazing meal and the ambience was just my speed - lively, but in an intimate setting. Service was top- notch.
The bistro is also gluten allergy friendly, so just be sure to let them know. They are currently BYOB, but offer a limited selection of wines by the glass as they are preparing the launch of their formal wine program. They are open for dinner Thursday through Saturday from 5:30pm with last seating at 8:30pm. My new favorite restaurant for sure and I would recommend to you to check it out!
