Visit Hilo: Tetsumen

I've heard that Tetsumen in Hilo is a great spot for ramen, but for my first ever visit, I ended up getting cold noodles, since I didn't want to eat ramen in the warm weather.

Chicken Namban Hiyashi Chuka

I got the Chicken Namban Hiyashi Chuka, which had noodles in a konbu broth, topped with 3 juicy pieces of fried chicken and covered with a sweet vinegar and tartar sauce, green onion, kikurage, nori, and red ginger.  I thought the bowl was really delicious, and perfect for summer!

Hiyashi Tantanmen
The Hiyashi Tantanmen consisted of noodles in a tonkotsu broth, chili oil, pork, poached egg, green onion, and cucumber.  My friend thought there was not enough pork, but it was tasty overall.

Next time I hope to try the ramen!
